About BitTorrent

BitTorrent (BTT) is a cryptocurrency, traded on global digital-asset markets. Live market data for BitTorrent is temporarily unavailable, so the price, market-capitalisation and ranking figures on this page will populate automatically once a fresh data feed is available — no placeholder values are shown in the meantime.

BitTorrent coordinates a marketplace for data storage rather than computation. Providers commit disk space and earn the token for proving — cryptographically and continuously — that they are still holding the data they agreed to store.

How it works — BitTorrent

BitTorrent is not a smart-contract platform competing on transactions per second — it is a storage protocol. Providers periodically submit cryptographic proofs that they still hold the client's data; honest proofs earn token rewards, missed proofs are penalised. The token's demand is tied to how much real data the network is paid to store, not to gas consumption.

Use cases — BitTorrent

BitTorrent is used to store data that needs to outlive any single provider: web archives, NFT media, datasets, backups, and content for decentralized applications. The token pays for storage deals and secures the providers that fulfil them. Demand for the token reflects demand for trust-minimised storage — a different driver from speculative L1 activity.

2026-07-12

The Crypto Fear & Greed Index aggregates volatility, market momentum, social media activity, dominance and Google Trends data into a single 0–100 score updated daily. Today's reading is 26 — Fear.

Extreme fear (below 25) historically signals buying opportunities for contrarians, while extreme greed (above 75) often precedes corrections. The index works best as one input among many, not as a standalone trading signal.

Macro & cross-asset context

How macro liquidity and cross-asset moves frame the trade

What sets the macro tone for crypto is the cost and availability of money: where the Fed is steering policy rates, whether dollar liquidity is expanding or draining, and how much risk the market is willing to carry. The asset class has behaved like the high-beta tail of that cycle — first to rally as conditions ease, first to crack when they tighten.

A handful of traditional gauges tend to lead or confirm crypto moves: the dollar index (strength is a headwind), the 10-year yield (the price of risk capital), gold (an occasional fellow-traveller in debasement trades), and the S&P 500 (which often moves with crypto when liquidity, not fundamentals, is in the driver's seat).

Narrowing to BitTorrent, the cleanest leading signal has usually been crypto-native liquidity — the combined trend in stablecoin supply, futures open interest and exchange turnover. When that pool of on-chain capital grows, BTT has tended to advance with it; when it drains, the move has typically gone into reverse.

Risks

The model carries its own hazards: providers can leave and force re-replication, fast retrieval is a harder guarantee than mere storage, early-provider subsidies create emission pressure, and the whole thesis depends on genuine paying demand rather than capacity farmed for rewards. Ordinary market volatility and regulatory risk sit on top of these.
